There was a surprise result when sixteenth ranked Lourdes-Tarbes (7-11) beat at home higher ranked Lorient (9-9) 84-69 on Friday. Lourdes-Tarbes looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. The best player for the winners was the former international center Ludovic Vaty (206-88, college: Moraine Valley CC) who scored 17 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Vincentian-Canadian forward Lien Phillip (203-89) chipped in a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds. Lourdes-Tarbes' coach Vincent Lavandier used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was Lithuanian center Dominykas Milka (203-92, college: St.Rose, NY) who recorded 20 points and 5 rebounds and American forward Jared Newson (196-84, college: Tenn-Martin, agency: Inception Sports) added 17 points and 4 assists respectively. Five Lourdes-Tarbes and four Lorient players scored in double figures. Lourdes-Tarbes moved-up to thirteenth place, which they share with GET Vosges and Souffel. Lorient lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the seventh position with nine games lost. Lourdes-Tarbes will face Aubenas (#17) on the road in the next round.
