Everything could happen in Pireus at the game between two tied teams. Both eleventh ranked Ethnikos and 12th ranked Papagou had identical 4-9 record. This time Ethnikos used a home court advantage and rolled over the opponent from Athens 84-63. The game was mostly controlled by Ethnikos. Papagou was better in second period 23-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Ethnikos forced 25 Papagou turnovers and outrebounded them 44-22 including a 28-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. 26 personal fouls committed by Papagou helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Estonian point guard Rait-Riivo Laane (179-93) orchestrated the victory by scoring 21 points, 5 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line). Swingman Paraskevas Martzos (197-85) contributed with 21 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Four Ethnikos players scored in double figures. Center Petros Melissaratos (205-93) replied with 10 points and 6 rebounds and power forward Panagiotis Filippakos (203-94) added 9 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Papagou. Ethnikos (5-9) moved-up to tenth place, which they share with Marousi. Newly promoted Papagou keeps the twelfth position with ten games lost. Ethnikos' next round opponent will be higher ranked Apollon Patras (#6) on the road and it may be quite challenging game. Papagou will play against Doxa Lefkadas (#4) and hope to win that game.
