Regular Season Round 21: SeaHorses - Nishinomiya S. 84-90

The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Aishin Sea Horses (23-7) in Kariya on Sunday night. Hosts were defeated by sixth ranked Nishinomiya S. (7-23) 90-84. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Aishin Sea Horses. Nishinomiya S. forced 19 Aishin Sea Horses turnovers. Strangely Aishin Sea Horses outrebounded Nishinomiya S. 44-26 including 16 on the offensive glass. American guard Draelon Burns (194-85, college: De Paul) stepped up and scored 24 points and 9 assists for the winners and Seaun Eddy (191-91) chipped in 17 points. Nishinomiya S.'s coach used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was the former international center JR Sakuragi (206-76, college: UCLA) with a double-double by scoring 19 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and American forward Daniel Orton (208-90, college: Kentucky) produced a double-double by scoring 12 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists. Nishinomiya S. moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Shimane SM. Aishin Sea Horses at the other side still keep top position with seven games lost. They share it with Ryukyu GK. Nishinomiya S. is looking forward to face league's leader Ryukyu GK in Okinawa in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Aishin Sea Horses will play on the road against Niigata Albirex and are hoping to win this game.
