Regular Season Round 11: TTU - Barsy Atyrau 66-71

Date: January 25, 2018
There was a small surprise in Tallinn where seventh ranked Kazakhstan Barsy Atyrau (2-8) defeated 5th ranked Estonian TTU (3-7) 71-66. TTU was ahead by 11 points after three quarters before a 25-9 charge of Barsy Atyrau, which allowed them to win the game. 26 personal fouls committed by TTU helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American forward DaQuan Cook (205-87, college: Z*Orangeville A's) orchestrated the victory by scoring 22 points and 7 rebounds. His fellow American import guard John Taylor (185-89, college: Fresno Pacific) contributed with 20 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Taylor is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Sten Olmre (192-95, agency: Players Group) answered with 22 points and American forward Levi Giese (206-90, college: Lafayette, agency: Blacktop Management) added 13 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for TTU. TTU's coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Barsy Atyrau maintains seventh place with 2-8 record. TTU at the other side keeps the fifth position with seven games lost. Barsy Atyrau's next round opponent will be higher ranked TLU/Kalev (#4) in Tallinn and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. TTU will play on the road against BK Ogre and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
