Regular Season Round 20: Valencia - Khimki 85-83

A very interesting game took place in Valencia. It ended with only two-point defeat on the road of higher ranked Russian Khimki (11-9) to fifteenth ranked Spanish Valencia Basket (7-13) 85-83 on Friday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the guest team. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Khimki. The hosts were ahead by 2 points but lost the second period ending it with a 1-point deficit before their 22-19 run, which allowed them to win the game. German center Tibor Pleiss (217-89) orchestrated the victory by scoring 15 points and 9 rebounds. Belgian point guard Sam Van-Rossom (188-86) contributed with 7 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. Guard Alexey Shved (198-88, agency: Alti Sport) replied with 22 points and 5 assists and American James Anderson (198-89, college: Oklahoma St.) added 12 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Khimki. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Defending Spanish champion moved-up to twelfth place, which they share with FC Barcelona and Brose Bask. Khimki at the other side keeps the seventh position with nine games lost. Valencia Basket's next round opponent will be bottom-ranked Anadolu Efes (#16) in Istanbul.
