Regular Season Round 21: Marbella - Almeria 97-87

Everything went according to plan when second ranked Marbella (11-4) defeated at home 6th ranked Almeria (7-7) 97-87 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Marbella. Almeria was better in third quarter 26-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Almeria 51-30 including a 35-24 advantage in defensive rebounds. Almeria was plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for the former international power forward Ricardo Guillen (207-76, agency: Duran International) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 16 points, 16 rebounds and 7 assists. Forward Juan-Pedro Jimenez (199-97) contributed with 25 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Cristian Ramon (-92) answered with 21 points and 6 rebounds and guard Jesus Castro (191-83) added 15 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Almeria. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Marbella. They keep a position of Group D-A leader. Almeria at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the sixth place with seven games lost. Marbella will face CAM E.Soler (#4) in Melilla in the next round. Almeria will play at home against Medacbasket and hope to win that game.
