Regular Season Round 21: FC Barcelona II - Castello 77-87

Very expected game when 14th ranked Barca II (7-14) lost to sixth ranked Castello (12-10) in Barcelona 77-87 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Castello. Barca II was better in fourth quarter 22-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Castello dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Barca II's 38. It was a good game for Trinidad and Tobago center Kyle Rowley (213-90, college: St.Mary's, CA) who led his team to a victory with 18 points. Naturalized Lithuanian forward Tautvydas Sabonis (203-92) contributed with 7 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. Castello's coach Toni Ten used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Senegalese center Atoumane Diagne (215-98) answered with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds and Ukrainian power forward Volodymyr Gerun (208-94, college: Portland) added 13 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Barca II. Four Castello and five Barca II players scored in double figures. Castello maintains sixth place with 12-10 record. Loser Barca II keeps the fourteenth position with 14 games lost. Castello will face Palma (#17) in S'Arenal in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Barca II will play on the road against Palencia Baloncesto and hope to win that game.
