Regular Season Round 15: Maccabi Ashdod - Hapoel J-M 74-65

The game between third ranked Hapoel Jerusalem (10-5) and sixth ranked Maccabi Ashdod (8-7) was the most important one in the last round on Monday night. Hapoel Jerusalem was defeated by Maccabi Ashdod in a tough game in Ashdod 65-74. The hosts trailed by 10 points at the halftime before their 45-26 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Maccabi Ashdod outrebounded Hapoel Jerusalem 40-29 including 27 on the defensive glass. It was a good game for American-Jamaican guard Sek Henry (193-87, college: Nebraska) who led his team to a victory with 22 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. American-Finnish center Gerald Lee (208-87, college: ODU) contributed with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Four Maccabi Ashdod players scored in double figures. Maccabi Ashdod's coach Brad Greenberg used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American Jerome Dyson (191-87, college: Connecticut) answered with 21 points and 4 assists and the former international forward Lior Eliyahu (205-85) added 13 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Hapoel Jerusalem. Maccabi Ashdod have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Galil Gilboa. Defending champion Hapoel Jerusalem keeps the third position with five games lost. Maccabi Ashdod is looking forward to face Ironi Nes-Ziona (#10) in Nes Ziyona in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Hapoel Jerusalem will play at home against Hapoel Eilat (#9) and is hoping to win this game.
