Another upset was a game between Brave Dragons (14-19) and Blue Whales (8-25), which took place in Sichuan. Higher ranked Brave Dragons lost to eighteenth ranked Blue Whales in a road game 124-132. Blue Whales made 23-of-28 charity shots (82.1 percent) during the game. Blue Whales outrebounded Brave Dragons 50-39 including 35 on the defensive glass. 24 personal fouls committed by Brave Dragons helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was Nigerian-American power forward Ikechukwu Diogu (204-83, college: Arizona St.) who had a double-double by scoring 40 points (!!!), 14 rebounds and 4 assists. The former international point guard Wei Liu (190-80) chipped in 27 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was Argentinian-Spanish power forward Luis Scola (206-80) who recorded 35 points (!!!), 6 rebounds and 5 assists and American point guard Willie Warren (193-89, college: Oklahoma) added 35 points (!!!) and 4 assists respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Blue Whales moved-up to seventeenth place. Brave Dragons at the other side keep the fourteenth position with 19 games lost. Blue Whales' next round opponent will be higher ranked Fly Dragons (#12) in Beijing and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
