Regular Season Round 16: Thor Thorl - Keflavik 76-79

A very close game took place in Thorlakshofn between Keflavik and Thor Thorl. Eighth ranked Keflavik (8-8) got a very close victory on the road over 9th ranked Thor Thorl (6-10). Keflavik managed to escape with a 3-point win 79-76 on Friday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Thor Thorl. Thor Thorl trailed by 13 points after 3 quarters before a 26-16 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 76-79 at the end of the game. They outrebounded Thor Thorl 45-31 including 36 on the defensive glass. American forward Christian Jones (201-93, college: UNLV, agency: BeoBasket) fired a double-double by scoring 24 points and 10 rebounds (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field) for the winners. Guard Ragnar Bragason (197-94) chipped in 19 points. American guard DJ Balentine (191-93, college: Evansville, agency: Inception Sports) produced 29 points and guard Halldor Hermannsson (188-97) added 18 points and 6 rebounds respectively for lost side. Keflavik moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Stjarnan. Loser Thor Thorl keeps the ninth position with ten games lost. Keflavik will meet higher ranked Tindastoll (#4) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Thor Thorl will play against the league's second-placed IR (#2) having rather not much hope for a victory.
