Regular Season Round 22: Estudio - Gran Canaria II 82-77

There was a minor upset in Madrid where 10th ranked Gran Canaria II (6-9) was defeated by thirteenth ranked Estudio (5-10) 82-77 on Saturday. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 27-17. But Gran Canaria II won second period 20-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Estudio looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Point guard Juan Llorente (180-93) scored 20 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists to lead the charge for the winners and Rodrigo Alvarez (-84) chipped in 14 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. Four Estudio players scored in double figures. At the losing side Polish center Aleksander Balcerowski (215-0, agency: Octagon Europe) responded with 19 points and 7 rebounds and center Pamor Diene (208-98) scored 16 points and 8 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Estudio moved-up to eleventh place in Group B, which they share with Quintanar. Loser Gran Canaria II stay at the bottom position with nine games lost. Estudio will face higher ranked Alcobendas (#6) on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
