Regular Season Round 22: Nidaros Jets - Tromso 72-77

There was a small surprise in Tromdheim where seventh ranked Tromso (9-14) defeated 7th ranked Nidaros Jets (8-14) 77-72. Nidaros Jets were ahead by 1 point at the halftime before a 24-16 third quarter run of Tromso. They were well out of reach of Nidaros Jets shooting 70.7 percent from the field and made 92-of-97 charity shots (94.8 percent) during the game, while Nidaros Jets only scored 72 points from the stripe. Tromso forced 21 Nidaros Jets turnovers. They shot the lights out from three nailing 46 long-distance shots on high 80.7 percentage. Tromso players were unselfish on offense dishing 27 assists. They brought some defensive toughness making 86 blocks. 29 personal fouls committed by Nidaros Jets helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Keon Lawrence (187-87, college: Seton Hall) who helped to win the game recording 24 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists. The other American import forward Shawntez Patterson (201-90, college: Alabama St.) contributed with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 15 rebounds for the winners. Lawrence is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top summer league for players who want to play basketball overseas. Four Tromso players scored in double figures. American center Evan Harris (206-86, college: Harvard) replied with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 21 rebounds and 8 assists and guard Even Skjellaug (195-95) added 24 points in the effort for Nidaros Jets. Tromso maintains seventh position with 9-14 record. Nidaros Jets at the other side dropped to the eighth place with 14 games lost. Tromso's next round opponent will be Ammerud Bskt (#9) in Oslo. Nidaros Jets will play on the road against Baerum Basket in Bekkestua and hope to win that game.
