Regular Season Round 22: Cordobasket - San Fernando 56-62

There was a surprise result when ninth ranked San Fernando (6-10) defeated on the road higher ranked Cordobasket (7-9) 62-56 on Saturday. Cordobasket was trailing by 2 points at halftime but managed to get 5-point lead after three quarters before a 16-5 charge of San Fernando, which allowed them to win the game. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Cordobasket to just 5 points in fourth quarter. Jose Ruiz (200-97) scored 21 points and 9 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Angel Canas-Balina (187-97) chipped in 11 points during the contest. At the losing side American guard Ishmael Sanders (188, college: Carson-Newman) responded with 23 points and 5 steals and guard Arturo Lopez (188-92) scored 15 points and 7 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. San Fernando maintains ninth position in Group D-B with 6-10 record. Cordobasket lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the fourth place with nine games lost. San Fernando will face higher ranked San Juan (#7) in San Juan del Puerto in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Cordobasket will play on the road against Utrera and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
