Regular Season Round 22: Algeciras - Utrera 75-69

Everything went according to plan when top-ranked Algeciras (16-0) beat at home 5th ranked Utrera (7-9) 75-69 on Saturday. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Utrera trailed by 18 points after 3 quarters before a 27-15 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 69-75 at the end of the game. American Michael Murray (196-91, college: Coppin St.) scored 30 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import center Julien Sargent (211-91, college: Mobile, AL) chipped in 13 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side guard Juan Toledo (190-96) responded with 20 points and forward Andres Tejada (195-98) scored 16 points and 7 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Algeciras have an impressive 16-game winning streak. Newly promoted Algeciras maintains first position in Group D-B with 16-0 record. Loser Utrera dropped to the fourth place with nine games lost. Algeciras will face league's second-placed ULB OH!TELS in La Linea in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Utrera will play at home against Cordobasket and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
