Regular Season Round 18: Moycullen - UCC Demons 72-85

Very significant was UCC Demons' (#6) 85-72 road victory against 7th ranked Moycullen. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Moycullen. UCC Demons dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Moycullen's 34. They outrebounded Moycullen 39-27 including 33 on the defensive glass. UCC Demons players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. American forward Lehmon Colbert (198-88, college: Jacksonville) notched a double-double by scoring 23 points and 10 rebounds to lead the effort and the former international point guard Kyle Hosford (175-89) supported him with 21 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists. Even 16 points and 8 rebounds by American forward Brandon McGuire (193, college: Moravian) did not help to save the game for Moycullen. Point guard James Loughnane (175-89) added 17 points and 6 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Moycullen's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. UCC Demons maintains sixth position with 9-8 record. Moycullen at the other side keeps the seventh place with nine games lost. They share the position with Belfast Star. UCC Demons will play against Belfast Star (#7) at home in the next round. Moycullen will play against KUBS in Greendale and hopes to get back on the winning track.
