Second Stage Round 4: Cherno More - Asenovets 98-62

The game in Varna supposed to be also quite interesting. 7th ranked Asenovets (1-2) played at the court of eighth ranked Cherno More (2-1). Cherno More smashed Asenovets 98-62 on Saturday. The game without a history. Cherno More led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 90 of its points in the paint compared to Asenovets' 34. They outrebounded Asenovets 52-26 including a 38-10 advantage in defensive rebounds. Cherno More looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by Asenovets' players. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Cherno More made 12 blocks. Forward Juliana Valcheva (184-99) fired 27 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 blocks for the winners. Swingman Maria Gencheva (185-99) chipped in a double-double by scoring 16 points, 20 rebounds and 7 blocks (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Guard Nadezhda Petrova (170-0) produced 12 points and 4 steals and point guard Valeria Aleksieva (163-0) added 15 points and 5 steals respectively for lost side. Five Cherno More and four Asenovets players scored in double figures. Asenovets' coach Kiril Stoyanov gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Cherno More moved-up to sixth place in Places 5-11, which they share with Champion 2006. Asenovets at the other side, also newcomer in the league, dropped to the eighth position with two games lost. Cherno More will face Levski (#9) in Sofia in the next round. Asenovets will play on the road against NSA in Sofia and hope to win that game.
