The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Hong Kong Hong Kong ELL (10-2) on the court of sixth ranked Vietnamese Saigon Heat on Sunday night. Visitors were edged by Saigon Heat 118-115. Saigon Heat forced 25 Hong Kong ELL turnovers. 26 personal fouls committed by Hong Kong ELL helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of Jamaican-American guard Akeem Scott (185-83, college: High Point) who helped to win the game recording 38 points (!!!), 8 rebounds, 5 assists and 6 steals. Filipino-American guard Michael Williams (188-91, college: CS Fullerton) contributed with 23 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Scott is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Filipino-German forward Christian Standhardinger (206-89, college: Hawaii) replied with a double-double by scoring 31 points and 18 rebounds and American guard Marcus Elliott (191-84, college: Louisiana Tech) added 29 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Hong Kong ELL. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Saigon Heat maintains sixth position with 5-5 record. Hong Kong ELL at the other side still keeps top place with two games lost. Saigon Heat are looking forward to face higher ranked Mono Vampire (#3) in Bangkok in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Hong Kong ELL will play at home against Chongson and is hoping to win this game.
