Regular Season Round 18: Rivne - Dinamo 71-79

Rather expected game when 3rd ranked Rivne-OSHVSM (12-4) was defeated at home by first ranked Dinamo (13-2) 79-71 on Sunday. Rivne-OSHVSM trailed by 11 points after 3 quarters before a 23-20 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 71-79 at the end of the game. Dinamo made 29-of-37 free shots (78.4 percent) during the game. Rivne-OSHVSM was plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. Center Roman Novikov (204-92, agency: AproK Sports Group) scored 19 points and 7 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and point guard Sergiy Alfyorov (189-84) chipped in 11 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!) during the contest. Four Dinamo players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was swingman Nazar Kisilchuk (194-97) with 20 points and 4 assists and point guard Taras Shaniuk (179-92) scored 12 points and 5 assists. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Newly promoted Dinamo maintains first position with 13-2 record, which they share with Niko-Basket. Rivne-OSHVSM at the other side keeps the third place with four games lost. Dinamo will face Kyiv Basket (#5) at home in the next round. Rivne-OSHVSM will play against Politekhn.Lvov and hope to win that game.
