No shocking result in a game when fifth ranked Njardvik (10-7) defeated at home 11th ranked Thor AK (3-14) 84-74 on Thursday. The game was mostly controlled by Njardvik. Thor AK managed to win fourth quarter 26-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Thor AK 48-35 including 19 on the offensive glass. Njardvik looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Njardvik made 7 blocks. American forward Terrell Vinson (201-90, college: Massachusetts, agency: HMS) stepped up and scored 16 points and 7 rebounds for the winners and the former international center Ragnar Nathanaelsson (218-91) chipped in 12 points and 10 rebounds. Four Njardvik players scored in double figures. American forward Nino Johnson (206-93, college: SE Missouri St.) responded with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists and guard Ingvi Ingvarsson (187-94) scored 14 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Njardvik maintains fifth place with 10-7 record. Thor AK lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the eleventh position with 14 games lost. Njardvik will meet Grindavik (#7) on the road in the next round. Thor AK will play against Stjarnan (#6) and hope to secure a win.
