Very expected game in Sauoarkrokur where 8th ranked Keflavik (8-9) was defeated by fourth ranked Tindastoll (12-5) 101-93 on Thursday. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 31-14. But Keflavik won third quarter 27-15. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Tindastoll made 26-of-30 free shots (86.7 percent) during the game. Tindastoll outrebounded Keflavik 43-28 including 30 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. International guard Petur Birgisson (185-96) stepped up and scored 26 points, 8 rebounds, 9 assists and 4 steals for the winners and American forward Antonio Hester (198-90, college: Mobile, AL) chipped in 31 points and 9 rebounds. Hester is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Tindastoll's coach Israel Martin used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. The former international guard Hordur Vilhjalmsson (194-88) responded with 27 points and 6 rebounds and American forward Christian Jones (201-93, college: UNLV, agency: BeoBasket) scored 18 points and 6 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Tindastoll moved-up to third place, which they share with IR. Loser Keflavik keeps the eighth position with nine games lost. Tindastoll will meet Thor Thorl (#9) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Keflavik will play against Hottur and hope to secure a win.
