Second Stage Round 5: Septemvri 97 - Cherno More 46-75
Date: February 9, 2018
Bottom-ranked Septemvri 97 is still unable to win any game. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their fourth consecutive match to seventh ranked Cherno More (3-1) 75-46 on Friday evening. The game without a history. Cherno More led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They held Septemvri 97 to an opponent 24.1 percent shooting from the field compared to 38.2 percent accuracy of the winners. They outrebounded Septemvri 97 66-40 including a 45-23 advantage in defensive rebounds. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Cherno More made 11 blocks. Forward Juliana Valcheva (184-99) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 27 rebounds (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line). Guard Iliana Georgieva (180-3) contributed with 24 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. Power forward Anna-Slavina Slavcheva (185-0) answered with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 12 rebounds and forward Valentina Veselinova (170-3) added 2 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Septemvri 97. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Cherno More moved-up to second place, which they share with Montana. Septemvri 97 at the other side still closes the standings with four games lost. They share the position with Rilski Sportist. Cherno More is looking forward to face Champion 2006 (#7) in Sofia in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Septemvri 97's supporters also look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Sofia to the arena NSA.
