There was an upset when higher ranked Orvieto (8-10) lost at home to fifteenth ranked Alghero (2-16) 74-59 on Saturday. Alghero made 17-of-19 free shots (89.5 percent) during the game. Quite impressive performance for Bulgarian guard Veronika Djikova (179-90) who helped to win the game recording 23 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Center Alexandra Petrova (185-97) contributed with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 13 rebounds for the winners. Four Alghero players scored in double figures. Power forward Giorgia Manfrc (183-92) answered with 13 points and 6 rebounds and Slovenian guard Eva Rupnik (176-92, agency: ProDep Management) added 10 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Orvieto. Orvieto's coach Massimo Romano let to play ten players and allowed the starting five to rest. Alghero maintains fifteenth place in A2 with 2-16 record. Loser Orvieto keeps the ninth position with ten games lost. Alghero will face higher ranked Palermo (#4) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
