Regular Season Round 20: Siauliai - Vytautas 95-97

Bottom-ranked Vytautas managed to get a fifth victory, breaking the nine-game losing streak. This time they edged seventh-ranked Siauliai 97-95. Siauliai was ahead by 4 points at the halftime before a 26-18 third quarter run of Vytautas. Strangely Siauliai outrebounded Vytautas 43-26 including a 20-9 advantage in offensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 27 assists. Siauliai was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. The winners were led by international swingman Edvinas Seskus (196-95, agency: Players Group) who scored that evening 15 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and power forward Regimantas Miniotas (206-96) supported him with 16 points and 7 rebounds. Five Vytautas players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 23 points and 12 rebounds by center Vytautas Sarakauskas (205-82) did not help to save the game for Siauliai. International power forward Laurynas Birutis (213-97) added 21 points and 8 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) for the hosts. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Vytautas maintains tenth position with 5-18 record. Siauliai at the other side keeps the seventh place with 15 games lost. Vytautas will play against league's second-placed Lietuvos rytas in Vilnius in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Siauliai will play at home against Juventus (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
