Regular Season Round 11: Singapore S. - Formosa D. 72-65

Rather predictable result when fifth ranked Singapore Singapore Slingers (8-7) defeated at home bottom-ranked Taiwanese Formosa D. (1-13) 72-65 on Sunday. Singapore Slingers forced 21 Formosa D. turnovers and outrebounded them 49-35 including a 22-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. Singapore Slingers looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Singapore Slingers made 9 blocks. The best player for the winners was American power forward Christien Charles (216-81, college: Villanova) who had a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!), 16 rebounds and 4 blocks. His fellow American import guard Xavier Alexander (198-88, college: S.Nazarene) chipped in a triple-double by scoring 16 points, 12 rebounds, 10 assists and 6 steals. American forward Cameron Forte (201-93, college: Portland St.) produced a double-double by scoring 26 points and 16 rebounds and Salvadorean-American center Ronnie Aguilar (216-87, college: CS Dominguez H.) added 11 points and 6 rebounds respectively for the guests. Singapore Slingers moved-up to fourth place. Formosa D. lost their tenth game in a row. They stay at the bottom position with 13 games lost. Singapore Slingers will meet at home Saigon Heat (#6) in the next round. Formosa D. will play against Westports MD and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
