A very close game took place in Le Havre between STB Le Havre and Charleville-Mezieres. Sixteenth ranked STB Le Havre (6-14) got a very close home victory over 18th ranked Charleville-Mezieres (4-16). STB Le Havre managed to escape with a 2-point win 71-69 on Tuesday evening. The winners were led by American Ronald Lewis (193-84, college: Ohio St., agency: Pensack Sports) who scored that evening 15 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists and naturalized Algerian point guard Samir Mekdad (191-86) supported him with 8 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Even a double-double of 19 points, 10 rebounds and 9 assists by American point guard Austen Rowland (186-81, college: Lehigh) did not help to save the game for Charleville-Mezieres. His fellow American import forward Dom Morris (201-90, college: Boston U.) added 11 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists for the guests. STB Le Havre maintains sixteenth position with 6-14 record. Charleville-Mezieres lost third consecutive game. They stay at the bottom place with 16 games lost. STB Le Havre will meet at home higher ranked Denain Voltaire (#8) in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Charleville-Mezieres will play against Caen (#11) and hope to secure a win.
