Rather expected game in Bangkok where 6th ranked Vietnamese Saigon Heat (6-6) was defeated by third ranked Thailand Mono Vampire (10-5) 118-113 on Wednesday. Mono Vampire made 20-of-23 free shots (87.0 percent) during the game. Mono Vampire had a 35-19 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was American forward Michael Singletary (198-88, college: Texas Tech) who had a double-double by scoring 35 points (!!!), 15 rebounds and 8 assists. Maltese center Samuel Deguara (223-91) chipped in a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!) and 14 rebounds (on 14-of-15 shooting from the field). Singletary is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. American-Nigerian power forward Maxie Esho (206-91, college: Massachusetts, agency: Two Points) produced a double-double by scoring 38 points (!!!) and 17 rebounds and Filipino-American guard Michael Williams (188-91, college: CS Fullerton) added 24 points, 8 assists and 4 steals respectively for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Defending Thailand champion maintains third place with 10-5 record behind leader Hong Kong ELL. Loser Saigon Heat keeps the sixth position with six games lost. Mono Vampire will meet CLS Knights (#7) in the next round. Saigon Heat will play against Singapore Slingers and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
