Regular Season Round 22: Bakirkoy - Akhisar Bld 82-95

There was a minor upset in Istanbul where 8th ranked Bakirkoy (12-10) was defeated by tenth ranked Akhisar Bld (10-12) 95-82. Akhisar Bld outrebounded Bakirkoy 32-21 including 24 on the defensive glass. They shot the lights out from three nailing 15 long-distance shots on high 51.7 percentage. It was a very good performance for American guard Reginald Holmes (193-87, college: Morgan St., agency: Two Points) who helped to win the game recording 28 points and 6 rebounds. Guard Sercan Topcu (188-85) contributed with 17 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. Four Akhisar Bld players scored in double figures. American swingman Manny Atkins (201-91, college: Georgia St.) replied with a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!) and 10 rebounds and Canadian guard Marek Klassen (185-92, college: Point Loma) added 21 points and 7 assists in the effort for Bakirkoy. Akhisar Bld maintains tenth position with 10-12 record, which they share with Orman Genclik. Bakirkoy at the other side keeps the eighth place with ten games lost. Akhisar Bld will play against higher ranked Karesi Spor (#9) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Bakirkoy's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Istanbul to the arena Acibadem.
