Regular Season Round 20: KUBS - DCU Saints 87-86

KUBS has finally registered their first victory this season after 18 consecutive losses. They used home court advantage to defeat DCU Saints (7-12) 87-86. KUBS forced 24 DCU Saints turnovers. Strangely DCU Saints outrebounded KUBS 60-11 including a 22-0 advantage in offensive rebounds. The winners were led by American swingman Brian Andrews (196-95, college: Clarion) who scored that evening 44 points (!!!) and 5 rebounds (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!) and Gary Barron (189-96) supported him with 15 points. Even a double-double of 30 points, 20 rebounds and 5 assists by American center Dee Proby (208-88, college: Oklahoma City) did not help to save the game for DCU Saints. The former international center Martins Provizors (202-87) added 19 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists for the guests. Four DCU Saints players scored in double figures. KUBS maintains twelfth position with 1-18 record. DCU Saints at the other side keep the ninth place with 12 games lost. KUBS will play against higher ranked Eanna (#10) in Dublin in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. DCU Saints will play at home against Maree and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
