Very important is a road loss of third ranked Rueil (16-6) against ninth ranked Lorient (11-11) on Saturday night. Visiting Rueil was defeated by Lorient in Lorient 89-79. It ended at the same time the ten-game winning streak of Rueil. It was a great shooting night for Lorient especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.9 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. Guard Mathieu Bigote (190-84) notched a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 assists to lead the effort and American forward Jared Newson (196-84, college: Tenn-Martin, agency: Inception Sports) supported him with 15 points and 4 assists. Four Lorient players scored in double figures. Even 17 points and 9 rebounds by center Jeremie Douillet (205-91) did not help to save the game for Rueil. Point guard Jeremy Bichard (186-90) added 19 points and 6 assists (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) for lost side. Lorient moved-up to seventh place, which they share with ALS Basket and La Charite. Loser Rueil keeps the third position with six games lost. Lorient will meet league's second-placed Saint Vallier on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Rueil will play against Aubenas and hope to secure a win.
