An interesting game for Crailsheim Merlins (20-3) which hosted in Crailsheim 3rd placed Karlsruhe PS (15-8). Second ranked Crailsheim Merlins managed to get a 10-point victory 96-86. Crailsheim Merlins made 20-of-23 charity shots (87.0 percent) during the game. Crailsheim Merlins outrebounded Karlsruhe PS 43-26 including a 32-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists. Karlsruhe PS was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Crailsheim Merlins' coach Tuomas Iisalo allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American point guard Richard Williams (178-87, college: San Diego St., agency: HMS) responded with 22 points and 7 assists and center Maurice Pluskota (208-92) scored 12 points and 7 rebounds. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Crailsheim Merlins. They maintain second place with 20-3 record having just three points less than leader Vechta. Newly promoted Karlsruhe PS keeps the third position with eight games lost. Crailsheim Merlins will play against Hamburg (#10) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Karlsruhe PS will play against Gladiators (#7) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
