Regular Season Round 20: Otsuka A. - Aisin AW 91-97

Very important is a home loss of second ranked Otsuka A. (21-7) against seventh ranked Aisin AW (9-17) on Saturday night. Host Otsuka A. was defeated by Aisin AW in a tough game in Tokyo 91-97. Aisin AW made 36-of-39 charity shots (92.3 percent) during the game, while Otsuka A. only scored twelve points from the stripe. Otsuka A. was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. The winners were led by point guard Kei Kato (172-93) who scored that evening 25 points and point guard Yuzo Okada (180-92) supported him with 13 points and 4 assists. Five Aisin AW players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 27 points and 10 rebounds (on 12-of-15 shooting from the field) by American forward Kyle Richardson (201-91, college: Portland St.) did not help to save the game for Otsuka A.. His fellow American import forward Ray Raymond (203-84, college: Wisconsin) added 18 points for the hosts. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Aisin AW maintains seventh position with 9-17 record. Otsuka A. at the other side keeps the second place with seven games lost. Aisin AW will play against bottom-ranked Tokyo Big Blue (#9) at home in the next round. Otsuka A. will play against Saitama Broncos (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
