Regular Season Round 24: Cornella - Igualada 72-65

There was a small surprise when seventh ranked Cornella (10-8) defeated at home 4th ranked Igualada (12-6) 72-65 on Monday. Igualada was trailing by 1 point at halftime but managed to get 3-point lead after three quarters before a 26-16 charge of Cornella, which allowed them to win the game. They also forced 19 Igualada turnovers. It was a good game for naturalized Andorra guard Roger Lliteras (195-96) who led his team to a victory with 14 points and 6 rebounds. Power forward Oscar Raya (209-89) contributed with 8 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Eduard Burges (190-90) replied with 8 points and 8 rebounds and Miquel Benito (-96) added 12 points and 4 steals in the effort for Igualada. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Cornella maintains seventh position in Group C-B with 10-8 record. Loser Igualada keeps the fourth place with six games lost. Cornella will face Salt (#13) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Igualada will play against Castellbisbal (#10) and hope to win that game.
