No shocking result in a game in Kastela Sucurac where second ranked Cedevita (15-1) smashed bottom-ranked Kastela (1-14) 89-56 on Wednesday. The game was mostly controlled by Cedevita. Kastela was better in second period 15-11. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Cedevita dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Kastela's 32. They outrebounded Kastela 41-23 including a 19-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. Cedevita looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. The best player for the winners was power forward Karlo Zganec (206-95, agency: XL Basketball Agency) who scored 8 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists. American Chris Johnson (210-85, college: LSU) chipped in 16 points and 7 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Four Cedevita players scored in double figures. Cedevita's coach Jure Zdovc felt very confident that he used 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Forward Dino Sipic (201-88) produced 15 points and 5 rebounds and Serbian power forward Aco Mandic (203-84) added 14 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the hosts. The victory was the third consecutive win for Cedevita. Defending champion keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Zadar. Newly promoted Kastela stay at the bottom place with 14 games lost. Cedevita will face KK Zabok (#7) at home in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Kastela will play against Zagreb (#11) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
