Regular Season Round 25: Gnupverjar - Fjolnir 84-80

The most exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Reykjavik: Gnupverjar (#7) and Fjolnir (#6). Gnupverjar (8-14) won against visiting Fjolnir (9-14) 84-80. The hosts trailed by 2 points at the halftime before their 22-11 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. Gnupverjar outrebounded Fjolnir 57-33 including a 20-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. American guard Everage Richardson (191-85, college: Co.Carolina) fired a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!), 11 rebounds and 8 assists for the winners. Point guard Gabriel Moller (182-99) chipped in 13 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Forward Sigvaldi Eggertsson (197-0) produced 22 points and American guard Sam Prescott (190-90, college: Mt.St.Mary's, agency: SDJ Sports) added 16 points and 9 rebounds respectively for lost side. Four Fjolnir players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Newly promoted Gnupverjar maintains seventh place with 8-14 record. Fjolnir at the other side keeps the sixth position with 14 games lost. Gnupverjar are looking forward to face higher ranked Snaefell (#5) in Stykkisholmur in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Fjolnir will play at home against Hamar and is hoping to win this game.
