There was no surprise in Balikesir where 17th ranked Yalova Bld (5-20) was defeated by seventh ranked Bandirma Kir. (15-10) 79-75 on Sunday. However just four-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Bandirma Kir. looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. American center Charles Jackson (208-93, college: Tenn Tech) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 27 points and 13 rebounds for the winners and Sedat Karagulle (-99) chipped in 20 points. Bandirma Kir.'s coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the losing side power forward Melih Kapucu (204-90) responded with 17 points and 9 rebounds and Nigerian center Jeleel Akindele (216-83, college: Chicago St., agency: BeoBasket) scored 19 points and 5 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Four Yalova Bld players scored in double figures. Bandirma Kir. moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Bahcesehir. Loser Yalova Bld dropped to the bottom position with 20 games lost. They share it with Samsun. Bandirma Kir. will meet Orman Genclik (#12) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Yalova Bld will play against Socar Petkim (#14) and hope to secure a win.
