Regular Season Round 19: Naestved - Svendborg 106-79
Date: March 5, 2018
Rather expected game when 6th ranked Svendborg (6-13) was crushed on the road by third ranked Naestved (12-7) 106-79. The game without a history. Naestved led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They made 17-of-18 charity shots (94.4 percent) during the game. Naestved players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Troy Franklin (183-89, college: Coppin St.) who helped to win the game recording 18 points and 5 assists. South African center Christopher Gabriel (211-88, college: San Diego) contributed with 17 points and 5 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winners. Gabriel is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Five Naestved players scored in double figures. American forward Demonte Flannigan (201-95, college: Cleveland St.) answered with 18 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists and the other American import guard Terrell Harris (191-93, college: Georgia Coll.) added 23 points (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field) in the effort for Svendborg. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the third consecutive win for Naestved. They maintain third place with 12-7 record having seven points less than leader Horsens IC. Svendborg at the other side keeps the sixth position with 13 games lost. Naestved's next round opponent will be BMS Skovlunde (#7) on the road. Svendborg will play against the league's second-placed Bakken and hope to win that game.
