Regular Season Round 36: Brest - Vitebsk 83-92

There was no surprise when 9th ranked Brest (6-27) was defeated at home by fourth ranked Vitebsk (18-13) 92-83. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 31-27. But Brest won second period 27-26. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Vitebsk players were unselfish on offense dishing 36 assists. The winners were led by the former international guard Maksim Shustov (188-86) who scored that evening 23 points and 5 assists and Yahor Patupchik (191-94) supported him with 23 points. Even 22 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists by guard Anton Shchurko (188-97) did not help to save the game for Brest. Forward Dmitriy Solyshko (196-96) added 15 points and 5 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Vitebsk maintains fourth position with 18-13 record. Brest lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the ninth place with 27 games lost. Vitebsk will have a break next round. Brest will play again at home against Vitebsk (#4) and hope to win that game.
