Regular Season Round 27: Toyota Alvark - Hitachi SR 87-81

There was no surprise in Tokyo where 4th placed Hitachi Sunrockers (22-20) were defeated by second ranked Toyota Alvark (31-11) 87-81 on Saturday. Toyota Alvark made 19-of-23 free shots (82.6 percent) during the game. It was a great evening for American center Alex Kirk (211-91, college: N.Mexico, agency: Pensack Sports) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 12 rebounds. The former international swingman Shohei Kikuchi (191-84) helped adding 19 points. Five Toyota Alvark players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was Canadian center Robert Sacre (213-89, college: Gonzaga) with 25 points and 5 rebounds and American forward Josh Harrellson (208-89, college: Kentucky) scored 14 points and 9 rebounds. Hitachi Sunrockers' coach gave the chance to play for ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Toyota Alvark keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Chiba Jets. Hitachi Sunrockers lost their sixth game in a row. They dropped to the fifth place with 20 games lost. Toyota Alvark will face Nishinomiya S. (#5) in Hyogo in the next round. Hitachi Sunrockers will play at home against the league's leader Aishin Sea Horses and hope to win that game.
