Regular Season Round 19: Rilski - Academic Sofia 81-68

No shocking result in a game in Samokov where second ranked Rilski (12-5) defeated 5th ranked Academic Sofia (7-8) 81-68. They outrebounded Academic Sofia 41-29 including a 30-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a very good performance for American power forward Evan Ravenel (204-89, college: Ohio St.) who helped to win the game recording 10 points and 9 rebounds. His fellow American import forward Travis Taylor (203-90, college: Xavier) contributed with 17 points (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) for the winners. Center Tsvetomir Chernokozhev (206-0) answered with 18 points and international forward Yordan Minchev (202-98) added 8 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Academic Sofia. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Rilski maintains second place with 12-5 record behind leader Balkan, which they share with Akademik PL. Academic Sofia lost third consecutive game. Defending champion dropped to the sixth position with eight games lost. Rilski will play against Cherno More (#8) in Varna in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Academic Sofia will play on the road against the league's leader Balkan in Botevgrad and hopes to get back on the winning track.
