Date: March 10, 2018
There was no surprise when 11th ranked Hagen-Haspe (5-18) was crushed on the road by fifth ranked Ibbenbueren (14-9) 94-69 on Saturday. Ibbenbueren had a 31-18 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Hagen-Haspe's players. The best player for the winners was American guard Denzel Johnson (190, college: Santa Clara) who scored 19 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists. Simon Dolkemeyer (198-91) chipped in 20 points and 7 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Oscar Luchterhandt (195-91) who recorded 15 points and American point guard Jeremy Lewis (185-86, college: St.Thomas, TX) added 12 points and 4 assists respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Ibbenbueren have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain fifth position in West with 14-9 record, which they share with Duesseldorf and Recklinghausen. Hagen-Haspe lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the eleventh place with 18 games lost. Ibbenbueren will face Kamp-Lintfort (#12) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Hagen-Haspe will play against the league's leader Muenster and hope to win that game.
