Quarter-Finals Round 1: Stingers - Pirates 95-87

Stingers fired past Pirates to open win count in the playoffs. Pirates trailed by 20 points after 3 quarters before a 27-15 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 87-95 at the end of the game. Stingers dominated on the defensive end, holding Pirates to just 5 points in first quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Pirates' 38. Stingers forced 24 Pirates turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Salathiel Dean stepped up with a double-double by scoring 29 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and Devon Ferguson chipped in 22 points and 7 rebounds. Five Stingers players scored in double figures. At the losing side Tevin Hudson responded with a double-double by scoring 25 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists and 10 steals and American forward Craig Smith (201-83, college: Boston Coll.) scored 20 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest.
