There was no surprise when 12th ranked Caen (8-15) lost at home to second ranked Entente Orleans 45 (19-4) 86-76 on Thursday. The guests trailed by 8 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 10-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 86-76. Entente Orleans 45 looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. It was an exceptional evening for American forward Marcellus Sommerville (200-82, college: Bradley, agency: Inception Sports) who led the winners and scored 25 points and 7 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). Bosnian forward Miralem Halilovic (205-91, agency: PEPI SPORT) accounted for 14 points and 5 assists for the winning side. Four Entente Orleans 45 players scored in double figures. Entente Orleans 45's coach Germain Castano used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Point guard Thomas Cornely (190-91, agency: Octagon Europe) came up with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 11 assists and American-Jamaican guard Brynton Lemar (193-95, college: Cal-Davis) added 18 points and 5 rebounds respectively for Caen in the defeat. The victory was the third consecutive win for Entente Orleans 45. They keep a position of league leader. Caen lost their third game in a row. They dropped to the thirteenth place with 15 games lost. They share the position with Le Havre and Poitiers. Entente Orleans 45 will meet at home Sluc Nancy (#7) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Caen will play against Saint Chamond (#5) and hope to secure a win.
