Finals Game 1: United - 36ers 107-96

Date: March 16, 2018
Melbourne United ensured the winning start to the NBL Finals. They beat the Adelaide 36ers in the opener. The game without a history. United led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They made 22-of-26 free shots (84.6 percent) during the game. 24 personal fouls committed by Adelaide 36ers helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international guard Chris Goulding (192-88) who helped to win the game recording 26 points (made all of his nine free throws !!!). American point guard Casper Ware (178-90, college: Long Beach St.) contributed with 20 points and 4 assists for the winners. International swingman Mitch Creek (195-92) answered with 14 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists and American guard Shannon Shorter (193-89, college: N.Texas) added 16 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Adelaide 36ers. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games.
