Tindastoll held off Grindavik in overtime in the opener. The hosts trailed by 5 points after three quarters before their 25-20 charge, which allowed them to tie the game at the end of regular time and get a 4-point victory in overtime. Tindastoll forced 20 Grindavik turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Grindavik was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. American forward Antonio Hester (198-90, college: Mobile, AL) fired 33 points (!!!), 9 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. International guard Petur Birgisson (185-96) chipped in a double-double by scoring 18 points, 11 rebounds and 7 assists. Hester is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Tindastoll's coach Israel Martin used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. Guard Dagur Jonsson (185-95, college: St.Francis, NY) produced 26 points and 8 assists and the former international center Sigurdur Thorsteinsson (204-88) added 19 points and 14 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) respectively for lost side.
