Regular Season Round 22: Trelleborg - Malbas 79-70
Date: March 16, 2018
We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 8th ranked Malbas (5-16) lost on the road to ninth ranked Trelleborg (5-16) 79-70 on Friday. Malbas trailed by 11 points at halftime and as many as 13 after three quarters before a 21-17 last quarter charge cut the deficit to 70-79 at the end of the game. Trelleborg looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. Australian guard John Fitzgerald (193-84, college: Lindsey Wilson) notched 23 points and 8 rebounds to lead the effort and American Justin Berry (198-88, college: Newman) supported him with 19 points and 5 rebounds. Even 18 points and 8 rebounds by forward Gustav Claesson (197-97) did not help to save the game for Malbas. Guard Kasper Hagberg (185-98) added 19 points and 6 rebounds for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Trelleborg moved-up to eighth place, which they share with defeated Malbas. Trelleborg will meet at home higher ranked Wetterbygden (#4) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Malbas will play against Hogsbo (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
