Second Stage Round 5: Basket Kosice - Zlin 101-74

Rather expected game when 6th ranked SKB Zlin (11-12) was crushed on the road by third ranked Basket Kosice (15-7) 101-74 on Friday. Basket Kosice dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to SKB Zlin's 34 and made 21-of-24 free shots (87.5 percent) during the game. They outrebounded SKB Zlin 46-24 including a 34-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. Basket Kosice looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Guard Jan Lycka (186-93) stepped up and scored 15 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners and swingman Jan Nekolny (192-91) chipped in 18 points. Power forward Michal Susak (203-77) responded with 13 points and David Nehoda (193-91) scored 10 points. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Basket Kosice moved-up to second place in Places 1-6. Loser SKB Zlin keeps the sixth position with 12 games lost. Basket Kosice will face league's leader Kralovsti sokoli in Hradec Kralove in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. SKB Zlin will play at home against Vysocina (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
