Regular Season Round 27: Venta de Banos - Coruna II 73-90

Rather expected game when 16th ranked Venta de Banos (5-20) lost at home to fourteenth ranked Coruna II (9-16) 90-73 on Saturday. The game without a history. Coruna II led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Venta de Banos' 42. Coruna II forced 24 Venta de Banos turnovers. It was a good game for guard Pablo Ferreiro (187-98) who led his team to a victory with 24 points and 4 steals. Forward Ruben Rey (198-93) contributed with 24 points (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) for the winners. Swingman Alejandro Young (194-97) answered with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 14 rebounds and Lithuanian point guard Andrius Banys (186-96) added 14 points (perfect from the field making all eight shots !!!) in the effort for Venta de Banos. Four Venta de Banos players scored in double figures. Venta de Banos' coach rotated ten players seeing no chance for a win. Coruna II moved-up to twelfth place in Group A-B, which they share with Rosalia. Venta de Banos lost their seventh game in a row. They keep the sixteenth position with 20 games lost. Coruna II will face higher ranked Carbajosa (#5) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Venta de Banos will play against the league's second-placed Gijon (#2) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
