Regular Season Round 27: L Alfas - Sagunto 80-71

No shocking result in a game when sixth ranked L Alfas (13-8) beat 9th ranked Sagunto (8-13) in Alfas Del Pi 80-71 on Saturday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 21-13. But Sagunto won second period 22-21. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. L Alfas shot 60.4 percent from the field. They outrebounded Sagunto 36-20 including a 28-13 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a good game for center Diego Perez (204-93) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 13 rebounds. American-Nigerian forward Udun Osakue (198-92, college: San Francisco St.) contributed with 14 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Four L Alfas players scored in double figures. American Nicolas Boscafiori (201-92) answered with 20 points (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) and guard Luis Torrijo (184-93) added 14 points in the effort for Sagunto. Sagunto's coach rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. L Alfas moved-up to fourth place in Group E, which they share with Paterna and Benidorm. Loser Sagunto keeps the ninth position with 13 games lost. L Alfas will face Begastri (#12) in Cehegin in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Sagunto will play at home against Valencia-2 and hope to win that game.
