Regular Season Round 27: Mataro Parc Boet - AEC Collblanc 74-71

There was an upset when 4th placed AEC Collblanc (12-7) was edged on the road by ninth ranked Mataro Parc Boet (10-11) 74-71 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 4 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 6-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 74-71. Strangely AEC Collblanc outrebounded Mataro Parc Boet 49-26 including a 20-2 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a good game for point guard Dario Naharro (180) who led his team to a victory with 17 points. Swingman Marc Forcada (188-84) contributed with 8 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. American forward Edson Avila (206-92, college: Georgetown, KY) answered with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 11 rebounds and Antoni Figuerola (-94) added 17 points (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!) in the effort for AEC Collblanc. Four AEC Collblanc players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Mataro Parc Boet moved-up to eighth place in Group C-A, which they share with Sant Adria. Loser AEC Collblanc keeps the fourth position with seven games lost. Mataro Parc Boet will face higher ranked Tarragona (#7) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. AEC Collblanc will play against the league's leader Menorca where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
