Regular Season Round 23: P.Zvaigzdes - Nevezis 87-84

Ninth-ranked Nevezis (6-21) gave a tough game to sixth ranked P.Zvaigzdes (10-16) in Pasvalys on Saturday. P.Zvaigzdes managed to secure only three-point victory 87-84. However their fans expected easier game. The hosts trailed by 1 point at the halftime before their 31-20 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. P.Zvaigzdes dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Nevezis' 30. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was Ukrainian forward Vyacheslav Bobrov (203-92) who scored 17 points and 5 rebounds. Russian forward Nikita Balashov (207-91, agency: Alti Sport) chipped in 14 points and 7 rebounds. Nevezis' coach Ramunas Cvirka tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. P.Zvaigzdes moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Siauliai. Nevezis lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the ninth position with 21 games lost. P.Zvaigzdes will meet at home Dzukija (#8) in the next round. Nevezis will play against Vytautas in Prienai and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
